1. In compliance with Australian Music Licensing legislation, we publish the Elizabeth Sheppard Media Direct Licensing Policy, as follows:

1.1. This is the direct licensing policy of Elizabeth Sheppard Media (ESMedia/we/us/our) a registered Australian company directed by the Indigenous Australian Composer Elizabeth Sheppard (the Composer / Director). At present ESMedia does not directly license any of our sound recordings or music videos for public performance, transmission or communication, as we have authorised PPCA, APRA and AMCOS to issue non-exclusive conditional temporary music licences for use of our recorded and videoed music, on our behalf.

1.2. In consideration of a. the legal and administrative costs currently involved with direct licensing, and b. the prevalence of conflicting music industry definitions and perceptions of “direct licensing” that may mislead licensing clients to believe that offering direct licensing necessarily includes permission to use music tracks royalty-free, with no conditions attached, at this present time, we have chosen not to offer direct licences for public performance or transmission of ESMedia sound recordings and music videos. However we reserve our right to do so in future, pending appropriate notice to our licensing agents, and acceptable royalty agreements.

1.3. We will review our position every 12 months to consider whether it is advisable for ESMedia to independently offer direct licences for our sound recordings and music videos under our terms and conditions, in future.

1.4. In the meantime, if you require a licence for the public performance of one of our sound recordings or music videos you should contact OneMusic Australia through the website https://onemusic.com.au or call 1300 162 162. If you require a licence for the communication or transmission of one of our sound recordings or music videos, you should contact the Phonographic Performance Company of Australia (PPCA) at http://www.ppca.com.au or by calling (02) 8569-1100. Please direct your enquiries re other licences for the Composer / Director’s music to APRA / AMCOS.

You are also welcome to email ESMedia to enquire about licensing one of my sound recordings for a use that is not covered by a PPCA licence. Such uses may include but are not limited to: a. including one or more of the Composer / Director’s sound recordings on a compilation; and/or b. synchronising one or more of the Composer / Director’s sound recordings for film or television.
